64 Zoo Lane!

Here we are at Twycross Zoo were we went today. It was actually a pretty good day out as the zoo is not very big so it's easy to get around to see the animals.

Cas liked the gorillas! I liked the owls, otters and flamingos, Chris liked the meercats and giraffes. We watched some of the feeding sessions, but mostly we just mooched around and enjoyed the sights. Unfortunately Cas is teething very badly today and so we did have a bit of a trauma over lunch and tonight over dinner. Hopefully he'll feel better soon. Thank god for Calpol.

Tropical World

This weekend we all went to Leeds to see Vinny and Becky. We had a lovely time, especially checking out the butterflies at 'Tropical World!' It was nice to be in a hot swamp and then rainforest when the rain was pelting down outside. We checked out various animals . . .the cutest being Lemurs and bushbabies, the foulest being bats . . . Cas checked them out from high up in his backpack.

Pressie!

On Saturday as a great surprise, Cas got a pressie in the post from Kitty and Julia. It is a Peek A Moo book which Kitty loves (especially Peek a Oink!) Kitty must be a more managable reader than Cas, because as soon as he gets hold of a book he tries to a) rip it up and/ or b) eat it! Still with supervision he enjoyed it as the pictures are really bright and big!

M&K's Golden Wedding

We went to Wiltshire to my aunt and uncles Golden (that's 50!) Wedding Anniversary. Despite the long drive, we had a great time. Lots of the family had not seen Cas before, or had only seen him when very small. . so he had lots of fuss. However there were a lot of us spending the night and because I didn't want Cas waking up and disturbing people I slept with him in a single bed . . he loved it (and so did I) and now we have set up a very bad habit -uh oh . . .

On the Sunday went to check out the Caen Hill locks. Apparently, the flight of 29 locks were engineer John Rennie's solution to climbing the very steep hill in Devizes. It was really great . . but there is no way you would get me going through all those locks . . it takes an entire day to get from top to bottom or vice versa in your boat.

Castle Madness!

We thought we would take a trip to Tamworth
Castle for the day with a picnic . . it was all good, except when we got there they were renacting some battle or other with the Roundhead and Royalists . . . it was quite funny actually and although we didn't make it into the castle - too hectic for a pushchair . .we sat on the grass and watched people getting slaughtered. Good experience for Cas for a regular night out in Nottingham . .
